Connecting to a Data Source

Data sources store the data, RDS must have a connection to the data source configured in order to access and deliver the data.

1. Begin by opening the RDS administrative portal and using the plus button at the bottom right. 
   
   
2. This will bring up the Add Collection dialogue box if there are no collections currently available, otherwise the Choose Collection dialogue will be opened. Add a new collection, or choose the existing collection to be used. 
   
   
3. Select Next. This will bring up the Data Source dialogue. Select the type of data source you are connecting to and fill out the appropriate information. 
    
4. Select Next. This will bring up the Add Metadata Service dialogue. If a metadata service has been created previously you can reuse the already created service, otherwise choose the type of metadata service to use and fill out the appropriate information.
    
5. Select Next. This will show a summary of the configured settings.
   
   
6. Select create. The connection to the database will be configured and the metadata for the table will be stored.
    
7. Select the data source configured and view the initial metadata.
